Praying For Those Around Us // Monday, October 13

Posted: Monday, October 13

One Year Bible Reading Guide:

Jeremiah 22:1-23:20
2 Thessalonians 1:1-12
Psalm 83:1-18
Proverbs 25:11-14

Verse of the day:

So we keep on praying for you, asking our God to enable you to live a life worthy of his call. (2 Thessalonians 1:11)

I remember the first time I heard someone pray for me. I was sick at home from school that day when I decided to come down stairs to kick-back in front of the TV. That’s when I heard my mom talking to God about me. She wasn’t complaining (although she had every right too), she was asking God to touch my life. Without a doubt, her prayers have a made a difference in my life. I often wonder where I’d be without a praying mom.

I’m also amazed to hear that people in the congregation have been praying for me. I know they are busy. I know they have challenges, yet they still take the time to pray for me. It’s humbling to know that I’m being prayed for. Every day when we gather together as a church staff to start our day, Pastor Jerry leads us in prayer for the congregation. It’s fun to see God answer those prayers. Oak Creek Assembly of God is a great church and prayer has been key to that.

It’s sounds incredible, but I believe I can honestly say that someone is praying for me every day. I hope I never take that for granted.

I wonder though, who are the people around us that no one is praying for? I wonder if your neighbors are being prayed for? What about your hair dresser or your mechanic? What about the neighborhood children or teens, is anyone praying for them?

Today, I challenge you to begin to pray for those God’s placed around you. Make a simple list by name and begin to pray for these precious lives every day. Everyone deserves to be prayed for.
