Loved, Me? // Friday, October 17

Posted: Friday, October 17

One Year Bible Reading Guide:

Jeremiah 30:1-31:26
1 Timothy 2:1-15
Psalm 87:1-7
Proverbs 25:18-19

Verse of the day:

Long ago the LORD said to Israel: “I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself.” (Jeremiah 31:3)

Have you ever looked at yourself in the mirror and thought, “Man, who would ever love me?”  It’s easy to begin asking that question when we look around and see that so much of the “love” that we see is conditional.

“As long as you always do what I want I will love you”

“As long as stay attractive I will love you”

“As long as you get good grades I will love you”

“As long as you never hurt me I will love you”

In contrast God tells us “I have loved you.”  He doesn’t say, “As long as you do ________ (fill in the blank) I will love you”. He simply says “I have loved you.” He doesn’t tag on any conditions.  His love is better than any love that we can receive anywhere else because His love is everlasting.  He won’t stop loving us if we mess up. He won’t stop loving us because He got bored with us. He won’t stop loving us because He found someone new to love. His love won’t stop- it’s everlasting!

Not only is His love everlasting, but it’s also unfailing. His love won’t let you down and you can always count on it. You don’t need to worry about looking for love elsewhere because His love is always enough!

If you question if you can be loved the answer is yes- you already are! Rest in the fact that God says, “I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love.”
