You Make Me Wanna Shout // Tuesday, October 28

Posted: Tuesday, October 28

One Year Bible Reading Guide:

Jeremiah 51:54-52:34
Titus 3:1-15
Psalm 100:1-5
Proverbs 26:18-19

Verse of the day:

Shout with joy to the Lord, all the earth! Worship the Lord with gladness. Come before him, singing with joy.
(Psalm 100:1-2)

God wants us to shout? Really? Certainly this can’t be right. I grew up in a well-mannered, well-educated, wonderfully middle class American family. Shouting is rude. We were only taught to yell under two circumstances: physical harm and sporting events. Physical harm AT a sporting event was the solar eclipse of appropriate yelling.

That, and of course, ice cream. (you scream, i  . . .)

Scripture offers us a far better occasion for shouting.

“Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them.” Psalm 5:11

“Shout for joy all you upright in heart!” Psalm 32:11

“Play skillfully with a shout of joy.” Psalm 35:27

“Let them shout for joy and be glad.” Psalm 35:27

Shout for joy! That’s right: JOY! Let your heart be filled with joy, and then, let your voice explode with a shout that cannot be contained. That’s right. I dare you. Find an occasion this week to shout. Shout for joy!
