One Year Bible Reading Guide:

Ezekiel 40:28-41:26
James 4:1-17
Psalm 118:19-29
Proverbs 28:3-5

Verse of the day:

Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it. (James 4:17)

We tend to characterize sin as doing something wrong.   We know that it is a sin to lie, it is a sin to commit adultery, and that  it is a sin to steal. All of those things require some sort of wrong action.  James however shakes up our typical characterization by telling us that it is also sin to not do the right thing.  For example: We know it’s a sin to lie, but it can also be sin to know the truth and not tell it.  We know it’s a sin to spread gossip about someone, but it can also be a sin to avoid someone who you know is hurting & needs friendship.

If God has directed you to do something kind for someone, to offer your time to ministry, to mend a broken relationship, do it! We are here not to only live for ourselves but to be a blessing and a light to the world around us.  What is the good and right thing that you have been avoiding or putting off? Ask God for help to not only avoid doing the wrong thing but for strength to always do the good & right thing as well!
