Daniel 7:1-28
1 John 1:1-10
Psalm 119:153-176
Proverbs 28:23-24

Verse of the day:

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. (1 John 1:7)

John starts 1 John much the same way as he starts John, by talking about Jesus without saying His name.  John says such things as “from the beginning,”, we heard, seen and touched, “the life appeared”, and that it is was “with the Father”.  This “Life” or “Word of Life” John is talking about is Jesus.  It is that life that John says “We proclaim to you”.  There is Life to proclaim.  That Life is Jesus.

In verse 5 John says that Jesus taught him that “God is light” and we are to walk in the light.  To not walk in the light is to walk in darkness.  To live for God is to walk in the light because “in Him there is no darkness at all”.  (v. 5)   If we “walk in the light” we will be purified from all sin through\ the blood of Jesus. (v.7)  There is Light to walk in.  That Light is God.

John warns if you “walk in the darkness”, you “do not live by the truth”. (v. 6)   Verse 8 says, “If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.”  The truth is, God loves us. The truth is, every one of us has sinned.  The truth is, sin separates us from God.  The truth is, God sent His Son, Jesus to die on the cross for our sins.   The truth is, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”  There is Truth to live.  The Truth is the Gospel.

There is Truth to Live (Lie to Lose), Light to Walk In and Life to Proclaim.
