Verse of the day:

Daniel 5:27 “Tekel means ‘weighed’—you have been weighed on the balances and have not measured up.”

Most of us have tried to live up to the expectations that others have placed on our lives. Many of us have chased the invisible, unseen marks that would tell us when we have arrived. Most of us at one time or another have felt like we don’t measure up.

This story is Daniel is a warning for us all. There is coming a time in our lives that God is going to weigh our lives in the balances and see how we measure up. What is he weighing our lives against? Do we know what is on the other side of the scale?

Our lives will be measured against one thing, Jesus. So the only way for the scales to balance is to make sure that Jesus is on both sides of the scale. The more we abandon our wants and needs, the more like Jesus we can become. The more like him we become the greater the chance the scales will tilt in our favor.
