One Year Bible Reading Guide:

Daniel 9:1-11:1
1 John 2:18-3:6
Psalm 121:1-8
Proverbs 28:27-28

Verse of the day:

Whoever gives to the poor will lack nothing, but those who close their eyes to poverty will be cursed. When the wicked take charge, people go into hiding. When the wicked meet disaster, the godly flourish. (Proverbs 28:27-28)

Verse 27 clearly says that those who minister to the poor will not lack themselves. Who are the poor this scripture is talking about? Certainly, it is not referring to the lazy, as the scripture already talks about how to deal with that problem. The poor are those who are disadvantaged through troubles and circumstances beyond their control. Good examples would be neglected children, hungry and helpless people, victims of tragedies and natural disasters, etc. One of the things the Lord desires for His people is to possess a compassionate heart, because that is the kind of heart that He has.

May we always have our hearts open to those in need and to the voice of God as He gives us the discernment we need, to know when to act on His behalf.
