One Year Bible Reading Guide:

Zechariah 1:1-21
Revelation 12:1-17
Psalm 140:1-13
Proverbs 30:17

Verse of the day:

Then I witnessed in heaven an event of great significance. I saw a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon beneath her feet, and a crown of twelve stars on her head. (Revelation 12:1)

I can’t remember a time in my life when Israel wasn’t in the news. The stories seem to be a constant stream of attacks, peace attempts, defense, and offense. I find it disingenuous when Christian tourists complain, “it’s not safe enough to travel to Israel this year.” It’s never safe. It’s certainly not safe for the eight million people that live in Israel.

In Revelation chapter 12, John describes Israel as a woman. The sun is Jacob, the moon is Jacob’s wife, Rachel, and the twelve stars are the twelve tribes of Israel. We see Israel attacked by Satan who is characterized as a large red dragon. “The devil has come down to you in great anger, knowing that he has little time.”

A day of redemption is coming. One day salvation will come to Israel. One day salvation will come to all who serve the God of Israel. Verse 17 describes this group as “all who keep God’s commandments and maintain their testimony for Jesus.” Verse 11 declares, “they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony.” Let us not be discouraged by the battles we face or the battles that Israel faces on a daily basis. A day of redemption is coming.
