One Year Bible Reading Guide:

Daniel 11:36-12:13
1 John 4:1-21
Psalm 123:1-4
Proverbs 29:2-4

Verse of the day:

And God has given us his Spirit as proof that we live in him and he in us. (1 John 4:13)

There are very few “sure things” in life. We expect the Packers to beat the Vikings. We anticipate having popcorn at the movie theater. We have no doubt that the sun will rise in the east after it sets in the west.  The truth is, none of these are sure things. But one thing I know, when someone repents of their sin, trust in Christ’s work on the cross, and commits to live their life for Him, they change.  It’s a fact, Jesus transforms people’s lives. You can’t stay the same.

John, the “disciple Jesus loved,” states that as Christians, because Christ loves us, we change. Our lives are transformed. And the greatest change of all is that we love others the same way Jesus loved us; this is radical stuff. This is the transforming work of the Holy Spirit in us. I’ve seen this with my own eyes. In fact, this was the biggest reason why I became a follower of Jesus. This was my proof that Jesus is exactly who the Bible says He is and this love in me is my proof that I now belong to God.

The love of Christ, shining through us, is the evidence of Christ’s reality to the world. Let your light shine today; love your family, your friends, your neighbors, your coworkers, and even that hard to love Vikings fan. Let them clearly know that Jesus has changed you. They will never be the same and you won’t be either.
