Who’s In Control?
Posted: Monday, December 22
Verse of the day:
Take control of what I say, O Lord, and guard my lips. (Psalm 141:3)
The battle for control is being waged all around us. We see it in politics, business, cities, homes, and even churches. Some battles seem small and insignificant while others are monumental in scope. Whoever has control has the power to command, to make decisions, and to have it their way.
Our words have incredible power to hurt or to heal. Proverbs 18:21 says that life and death are in the tongue. Because this is true, The Book of James comments that the battle for control of the tongue is the most epic battle of all. If you can win this one, you can win any battle.
And so, I love the way the Psalmist engages in this fight. He goes right for the “nuclear option” and asks God to “Take control.” He literally surrenders to God. Can you imagine using that tactic in the battles you face? And this is actually the key to so much in the Christian life. Surrendering to God is the door way to transformation and victory.
What battle are you facing now? What do you need to surrender to God today? Give God control and let Him have His way.
