One Year Bible Reading Guide:

Numbers 26:1-51
Luke 2:36-52
Psalm 60:1-12
Proverbs 11:15

Verse of the Day:

Jesus grew in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and all the people. (Luke 2:52)

If I’m completely honest, sometimes it’s a little difficult to picture Jesus as a human. You read throughout scripture Jesus doing these incredible supernatural miracles. It’s not everyday that you see someone walk on water, turn a few fish and pieces of bread into enough food to leave over 5,000 people stuffed, or even raise their friends from the dead. Not to mention that the whole purpose of his life was to be the ultimate and final sacrifice for humanity’s sin and create the bridge that enables a relationship between God and man. Not your everyday human characteristics.

As we read accounts of Jesus’ life like the one in Luke 2, Jesus was in fact a normal human being just like you and me. He needed food and water to survive. He had feelings and emotions. He grew up as a kid that probably had a favorite toy and ran around the neighborhood playing games with his friends. He was 100% God in a 100% human body. It’s mind boggling and even a bit confusing, but it means that even amongst all of his supernatural experience of being God, Jesus lived and endured the same life obstacles we go through.

Today, remember that Jesus has gone through the same things you are. He had friends that double-crossed him, he had family drama, and he had seasons of happiness and sorrow. Jesus can relate to our lives here on earth and because he is also God, he has the power to do the supernatural and be our dependable stronghold if we let him.
