One Year Bible Reading Guide
Verse of the Day:
Then he said to the disciples, “Anyone who accepts your message is also accepting me. And anyone who rejects you is rejecting me. And anyone who rejects me is rejecting God, who sent me. (Luke 10:16)
Many Christians hesitate to share the love and message of the Gospel because they are afraid of being rejected. They fear the hurt and pain that comes when someone we have a relationships rejects us.
As Jesus is preparing to send out his disciples on a short term mission trip, he tells them what to expect. He lets them know that if someone accepts the message of hope that they bring, they are actually accepting Jesus himself. If they reject the message, they are rejecting both Jesus and God. As usual, we want to make it all about us and in reality it is not about us at all. They are not rejecting us as persons or messengers. They are rejecting the message and person of Jesus. They are rejecting God.
We should never fear to share our story of Hope because we fear rejection. People will reject the message. It is not personal. Whenever a delivery person drops a package at my house that I refuse, they do not take it as a rejection of them. They understand it is about the package. It is between the sender and receiver, not the messenger. Let’s not make it about us. Let’s share the message and leave it up to the receiver if they will accept or reject the sender.
