One Year Bible Reading Guide:

Joshua 22:21-23:16
Luke 20:27-47
Psalm 89:14-37
Proverbs 13:17-19

Verse of the day:

So he is the God of the living, not the dead, for they are all alive to him. (Luke 20:38)

Ever since I was a child I’ve wondered what it looked like when God created the world. To see nothing and then suddenly, life! The idea that he spoke everything into existence and then took the time to shape, form, and assemble us out of dirt always blows me away!

As we read in Luke 20, we see God is a God of life. Everything about him declares “go live!” There’s a difference between existing and living life. Sin brings death, deterioration, and destruction, but God brings life and restoration. Just celebrating Easter, we reflect and soak in the importance and beauty of Jesus being alive.

In Christ, we gain a new life and put to death our old sinful person. You should check out 2 Corinthians 5, especially verse 17 that says,  “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” We’ve got this innate desire to continue living, a hope that when our time on Earth is done there will be something else we go to. The good news is, in Christ, we get that everlasting life! (Shameless plug, Pastor Brooks is going to be talking about Heaven this coming Sunday and I can’t wait)

Today, allow God to breathe new life into you. Remember that he is a God that wants you to live a satisfying and enjoyable life both here on Earth and with Him in Heaven! We can have that when we honor him and do things his ways! God is alive and he wants you to truly live too!
