Acts 18:23-19:12
Psalm 146:1-10
Proverbs 18:2-3

Verse of the day:

Fools have no interest in understanding; they only want to air their own opinions. (Proverbs 18:2)

We live in a world where you don’t have to go very far to find out what someone’s opinion is. With social media, we can instantly see people’s reactions to life’s events in real time. With social media, people have become emboldened to share their opinion.

Today’s proverb tells us that a fool has no interest in understanding. Many times on social media you only get one side of the story. Because some posts are limited by characters, the whole truth cannot be told. When you don’t have the whole story, you may find it better to scroll on and keep that opinion to yourself. If you happen to know the whole story, posting your opinion may still not be productive, because you may be looking from one vantage point, while everyone else is looking at things another way. Both are foolish.

Be cautious about airing your opinion. It inflates all of our egos to have our comments liked and retweeted. However, if you are seen as foolish in the eyes of others, it may not be worth the high cost of your reputation. So to paraphrase James 1:19 – Let everyone be quick to listen, slow to tweet, and slow to anger.
