2 Kings 8:1-9:13
Verse of the day:
Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.” (Acts 16:31)
This is one of my favorite stories form the book of Acts. I bet it was on Paul’s personal high-light reel.
You see… a miracle had just taken place! Paul and Silas and every other prisoner in the jail were loosed from their shackles and released from their prison cells; a God-sent earthquake had set them free. The initial response of the doomed Philippian jailor was to take his own life, but when Paul, Silas, and the rest of the prisoners came back, this warden was awakened by more than a song sung at midnight or the crashing of prison gates. His heart was touched by the quick return and the kind intervention of Paul and Silas.
In response, the jailor asked, “What must I do to be saved?” In other words, what do I need to do to have the kind of “life” I’ve witnessed in Paul and Silas? And Paul simply says,“Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.” And the rest is history…you can read about it on your own.
Being a light is as simple as three easy steps:
1. Pray – that God will touch people through your life today, from your family, to your neighbors, and even to those you don’t know.
2. Care – be God’s hands and meet the needs of those around you in tangible ways.
3. Share – tell your story when the opportunity arises. Be ready with an answer for the hope you have within you.
Take the plunge today. Be a light. You just may experience the first of many stories in your own personal high-light reel.
