One Year Bible Reading Guide:

2 Kings 17:1-18:12
Acts 20:1-38
Psalm 148:1-14
Proverbs 18:6-7

Verse of the day:

To this day their children and grandchildren continue to do as their ancestors did. (2 Kings 17:41)

Have you ever observed a particular behavior of your child and wondered where they got that, and then your spouse is quick to point out that, “ Ya, that came from you”?  It is a reminder to us that our children are watching us.  They are constantly learning from us and emulating us.  There is the saying, “More is caught than taught”.  That means that kids pick up so much more from our actions and the way we live our lives than what we formally try to teach them. The same is true of the Israelites. In 2 Kings 17, scripture points out that the Israelites were serving idols instead of serving the one true God.  And guess what.  Their children followed them in their evil practices and served idols as well.

2 Kings 18:1-8 tells us about King Hezekiah.  In verse 3 it says “He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, just as his father David had done.”  Hezekiah followed a godly example, king David.  Who is going to be the godly example for your kids to follow and not just for your own kids, for all the children around you?  You be that godly example. Be an example in serving the Lord.  Be an example in worshipping God.  Be an example in doing what is right. Because remember, they are “watching, always watching”.
