One Year Bible Reading Guide:

1 Kings 7:1-51
Acts 7:30-50
Psalm 128:1-6
Proverbs 16:31-33

Verse of the day:

We may throw the dice, but the Lord determines how they fall. (Proverbs 16:33)

This verse has intrigued me for the past several years. I grew up in a family where we would occasionally flip a coin or draw straws to determine who would have to do a chore or who would get the larger piece of pie but we didn’t leave big and important decisions up to chance.

Scripture guides us to make such decisions through prayer and seeking out wise counsel. Yet sometimes we’re faced with 2 seemingly equal choices. Should I take the new job or stay where I’m at? Should I date this guy or not? After you’ve prayed about it, researched your options, searched the scriptures and sought out wise counsel, the time comes for you to just go ahead and make the best decision you can make. And when you’ve done that, we leave the results with God.

When I look back I can clearly see that God has guided the dice in my life. I think back to college when I was approached by a guy for a ride back to Milwaukee. I didn’t know this guy but I was happy to give him a lift. I discovered that his family had just moved to the area and hadn’t found a church so I was able to invite them to Oak Creek. While finishing college that family helped start the young adult ministry that I would have the privilege of serving after graduating. And a new lady to town named Joanie would visit that college ministry on a Wednesday night and I would marry her a few years later! All of this from a ‘random’ car ride!

Be encouraged friend; God is guiding your life!
