2 Chronicles 1:1-3:17
Verse of the day:
Now you are free from your slavery to sin, and you have become slaves to righteous living. (Romans 6:18)
Everyone of us is born as a slave to sin. Perhaps you’ve noticed this; I certainly have seen this in my own life. We probably don’t need to spend much time describing what slavery to sin looks like; it’s compounding darkness. I’d rather like us to think about the other kind of slavery; becoming slaves to righteous living.
As we accept the righteousness that Christ offers us through the cross, we begin to experience a change in our desires. We want to do good; not just avoid the bad. We want to bless others with kind words, helpful actions and generous gestures. We want to be patient and loving with our families. We want to be a ‘good Samaritan’ when a need arises. We want to bring honor to our Heavenly father by the way we see and think about our world. Imagine what your life would look like if you always did the right thing; the best thing. That would be an incredible life! We’ll never reach perfection on this side of eternity but because of the work of Christ we are slaves to righteousness and we are works in progress!
