One Year Bible Reading Guide:

2 Chronicles 17:1-18:34
Romans 9:25-10:13
Psalm 20:1-9
Proverbs 20:2-3

Verse of the day:

But Micaiah replied, “As surely as the Lord lives, I will say only what my God says.” (2 Chronicles 18:13)

Here’s a little bit of crazy for your Saturday. In II Chronicles, the Lord himself makes plans to kill King Ahab for his disobedience. The Lord calls upon a lying spirit to deceive Ahab’s prophets so that the prophets will encourage Ahab into battle. Everything is going according to plan until King Jehoshaphat remembers another prophet named Micaiah.

Micaiah declares, “As surely as the Lord lives, I will say only what my God says.” Unfortunately for King Ahab, this prophesy is bad news; King Ahab will certainly die in battle. King Ahab now has one prophesy of defeat and many prophesies of victory. Which does he choose? He chooses the answer that benefits himself. He follows the voices that say what he wants to hear. He goes into battle and perishes on that day.

Let’s pray today that God will surround us with the wisdom that only comes from Him. Let’s strive to be people who only speak what the Lord says.
