1 Chronicles 16:37-18:17
Verse of the Day:
“What more can I say to you about the way you have honored me? You know what your servant is really like. (1 Chronicles 17:18)
Today’s verse of the day comes from a prayer of praise and thanksgiving that is offered by David to God in response to God’s promise over David and his family. Make sure and take time today to read the entire context of this single line from this text of praise.
David acknowledges the fact that he does not deserve the grace that God has shown to him. He has done nothing to earn the favor that God has given. Grace and favor are something that cannot be earned, only given. Grace and favor say more about the giver than the receiver. The gift of grace says that the giver does not hold past wrongs or hurts as unpaid. The gift of favor says that the giver is not only willing to let past wrongs go, they are willing to lift the debtor out of debt and into a place of blessing.
It would have been enough for God to simply forgive us of our sins and lift us up out of the mess our lives had become. However, God does so much more. He gives us favor. He lifts us out and then raises us up to a place where we don’t belong. He know us. He has seen us at our worst and still offers his best. Live today with a psalm of praise in your heart knowing that you will not get what you deserve, but each day you walk in His Grace and Favor.
