One Year Bible Reading Guide:

1 Chronicles 5:18-6:81
Acts 26:1-32
Psalm 6:1-10
Proverbs 18:20-21

Verse of the Day:

“They were helped in fighting them, and God delivered the Hagrites and all their allies into their hands, because they cried out to him during the battle. He answered their prayers, because they trusted in him.”  (1 Chronicles 5:20)

By all means, when a disaster strikes, you are in the midst of a crisis, or you are faced with a difficult situation, cry out to God.  Ask Him for help like the Reubenites, Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh did.  God helped them and God will help you as well.  Where a lot of people go wrong is they only cry out to God when they need help and don’t give him much thought the rest of the time.  1 Chronicles 5: 25-26 tells us the tribes mentioned above were guilty of this.  It says the leaders of the families were unfaithful to God and worshipped the gods of the people God had destroyed before them.  No doubt their families followed them in this. What a slap in the face.  God helps them and they go and worship other gods.  What happens next was God allowed these tribes to be exiled from their land by the king of Assyria because they were unfaithful to Him.  God is looking for those who will be faithful to Him.   Draw closer to God and serve Him.   James 4:8 says “Come near to God and He will come near to you.”  When troubles come then, He’ll be right there.
