King of Each Season // Tuesday, September 2

2 Corinthians 6:1-13
Verse of the day:
For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. (Ecclesiastes 3:1)
I knew a guy in high school named William. The unique thing about William is that he dressed and acted like he was a gentlemen from the late 1800’s. He played chess, grew a mustache, and insisted that someone make an appointment to spend time with him. Undoubtedly, it was a fun game. His life was as if he picked his favorite season of history and then made the world stand still.
Beyond the pranks of a theatrical high school student, I believe we’re often guilty of the same practice. We choose the season that fits us best and then ask the world to stand still. Don’t change. Don’t move. We find our security in the familiar, and our fear in the transition.
In Ecclesiastes, we learn that God’s vision for our life is a life of ever changing seasons: a time to be born, die, plant, harvest, cry, laugh, grieve, dance, love, hate, search, and quit searching. Allow God to be your king through every season. He wants to be our security. Let’s place our trust in Him.
