Knowledge Teaches // Friday, September 26

Posted: Friday, September 26

One Year Bible Reading Guide:

Isaiah 48:12-50:11
Ephesians 4:17-32
Psalm 69:1-18
Proverbs 24:5-6

Verse of the day:

The wise are mightier than the strong, and those with knowledge grow stronger and stronger. (Proverbs 24:5)

I’ve enjoyed swimming my entire life. Phoenix, Arizona was the land of a thousand pools, so naturally, I grew up with pool parties and swim lessons. No matter where you’re from, the first day of swim lessons is always the same: float on your back. The reasoning here is that floating on your back is the simplest way to self-rescue. If you know how to float, you will not drown. Floating is not a test of strength; it is a test of knowledge and experience.

When we find ourselves in crisis, we often face a similar decision. Will I panic? Will I fight? Can I force the outcome to be what I want? OR . . . will I use my knowledge and experience to survive, to live better, and to succeed?

As a kid, I relished the opportunity of a swimming race at a pool party. When you have knowledge, you can quickly succeed beyond someone else's strength, resource, or position. Knowledge is life giving. Knowledge teaches us the road to godly living. What will you learn today?
