You've Been Invited By God // Sunday, September 28

Posted: Sunday, September 28

One Year Bible Reading Guide:

Isaiah 54:1-57:14
Ephesians 6:1-24
Psalm 70:1-5
Proverbs 24:8

Verse of the day:

Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. (Isaiah 55:1 )

There are invitations that come along in life that I love to jump at. The wedding of dear friends, the extra ticket to the Brewers game, the free round of golf and the hospitality of those who know how to cook an incredible meal. It’s an honor to be invited into something great. Did you know that God has an invitation with your name on it?

Isaiah tells us that God invites people who are thirsty. If your heart feels like a desert; if your hopes have dried up and your life seems empty and unfulfilled; you’re invited to something more. God also invites people who have no money. People who have no leverage and no prestige.

What does God offer us?

First, God invites us to the water. When you are most dehydrated it’s water that you want and nothing else. God invites us to receive refreshment and restoration.

Secondly, God offers milk, which represents ongoing nourishment. It’s amazing how quickly our little Krista is growing up. She’s growing because she’s constantly drinking milk! God invites us to grow strong and stable in Him.

Third, God offers wine. Wine symbolizes joy and celebration. Jesus was always the life of the party!

God requests your presence today; accept the invite!
