One Year Bible Reading Guide:

Genesis 42:18-43:34
Matthew 13:47-14:12
Psalm 18:16-36
Proverbs 4:7-10

Verse of the day:

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer. (Psalms 19:14)

What’s your norm when it comes to the words you say or the things you think about?  Are they words and thoughts that are pleasing to God or does their need to be a change when it comes to what you say and what you think about?  God calls us to a higher standard.  Our norm should look like what God wants, not what the world looks like.

In Matthew 15:1-20 Jesus tells his disciple’s they’re not to worry about the washing of hands like the Pharisees, but what they should be concerned about is whether their hearts and minds are clean.  He warns them and us that out of mouths and hearts can come all manner of evil (v.19).  Maybe you need a new norm when it comes to the thoughts you think and the words you say.  Make the prayer above, your prayer (Psalms 19:14) and commit to God’s standard.  Remember we’re not to be like the world, we’re to be more like Jesus.
