The Holy Spirit Working In Us

Verse of the day:
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the Lord’s favor has come. (Luke 4:18-19
Luke makes clear that Jesus is conceived through the Holy Spirit in Mary's womb, anointed by the Holy Spirit at his baptism, empowered by the Holy Spirit into and through his wilderness temptations, and he emerges from the temptations full of the Spirit.
This passage reminds us that the Holy Spirit is powerfully upon Him throughout His ministry. This is a quote from Isaiah 61:1-2, and in this context, Jesus is bringing restoration and healing to the afflicted and oppressed.
If Jesus' ministry was empowered by the Holy Spirit, then why would we try to minister without that same power? Release of the captives, freedom for the oppressed and the time of God's favor, doesn't come without the power of the Holy Spirit at work in the ministry of God's servants.
Before Jesus ascended back to Heaven, He promised to send us—all of us—His Holy Spirit. The same Spirit that empowered Him in the flesh, is available to us—through us.
God has given us gifts, talents, and abilities to use in ministry to bless others and to honor Him. Still, we must recognize that even with these gifts, our ability to accomplish all that He have called us to do is impossible without His Holy Spirit to help us.
May we never lose the understanding that without God and His Spirit, we cannot deliver the full power of the gospel.
