One Year Bible Reading Guide:

Deuteronomy 31:1-32:27
Luke 12:8-34
Psalm 78:32-55
Proverbs 12:21-23

Verse of the day:

He is the Rock; his deeds are perfect. Everything he does is just and fair. He is a faithful God who does no wrong; how just and upright he is! (Deuteronomy 32:4)

"He is a Rock." This is the first time God is called so in Scripture. The expression denotes that the Divine power, faithfulness, and love, as revealed in Christ and the gospel, form a foundation which cannot be changed or moved. It is on that foundation we build our hopes of happiness. And under his protection, we may find refuge from all of our enemies and in the midst of all our troubles. As the rocks in those countries gave shelter from the burning rays of the sun, and from tempests, and were a fortress from the enemy, so is Jesus to us, as our Rock.

"His work is perfect," that of redemption and salvation, in which there is a display of all of His Divine perfection, and it is complete in all of its parts. All of God's dealings with us are surrounded by wisdom which cannot make a mistake, and are perfect in His justice.

He is indeed just and right. He takes care that none of us shall lose by trusting in Him. And even though God's children have their blemishes while in this imperfect state, His grace and mercy, through His righteousness, cover us and preserve us.

So today, let's take refuge in Jesus, our Rock!
