One Year Bible Reading Guide:

Numbers 22:21-23:30
Luke 1:57-80
Psalm 58:1-11
Proverbs 11:12-13

Verse of the day:

Then Balaam confessed to the angel of the Lord, “I have sinned. I didn’t realize you were standing in the road to block my way.” (Numbers 22:34)

I love to read the stories in the Bible. There are so many amazing stories: floods, wars, rescues, love, heroes, and villains. Many of the stories are unbelievable. Could they really have happened?

The story of Balaam and his donkey is one of those unbelievable stories. You would think, by Balaam’s response, that this happened all the time. Read the story again. Doesn’t Balaam’s response seem, odd? His donkey begins to talk to him and he just enters the conversation, as if that was normal. There is no shock, no amazement, no awe. Balaam is so frustrated by his circumstances that he missed the miracle. Balaam is so focused on his delay, his hurt leg, and his disobedient donkey that he misses the most amazing part of the story. His animal talked.

Many times in our lives we come up against road blocks. We are so programed to think that everything negative in our lives happens because the enemy of our souls made it happen. However, sometimes God puts obstacles in our way to stop us from making a bad choice.

When you become frustrated because things are not moving forward like you want them too, don’t miss the miracle standing in the road. When all the situations around you are crying out, don’t miss what God is up to. Stop and look around. Pray and ask God to show you the source of the obstacles in the way. If it is from the enemy, pray for the strategies to defeat him and remove the blockade. If it is from God, pray that He will speak to your heart and mind and let you know why he wants you to stop. Don’t let daily frustrations cause you to miss out on once in a lifetime miracles.
