Verse of the day:
O my Strength, to you I sing praises, for you, O God, are my refuge, the God who shows me unfailing love. (Psalm 59:17)
Our little first grader experienced some bullying directed at her last week at school. Some pretty mean things were said to her. When I heard about it I had two responses. My eyes teared up a little thinking about my little girl being hurt in this way. My other response was asking who it was?! The three things stirred in me were my love for my daughter, wanting to protect her and wanting to be there for her.
How about you have you been bullied? Has the world and the devil been bullying you? David writes about being bullied in Psalm 49. He was bullied by King Saul and his men and he was bullied by the nations. Where does David turn? Psalm 59:9-10 says this. “You are my strength; I wait for you to rescue me, for you, O God, are my fortress. In his unfailing love, my God will stand with me. He will let me look down in triumph on all my enemies.” Psalm 59:16 & 17 repeat the same theme. “But as for me, I will sing about your power. Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love. For you have been my refuge, a place of safety when I am in distress. O my Strength, to you I sing praises, for you, O God, are my refuge, the God who shows me unfailing love.”
