Call On God

2 Corinthians 12:1-10
Verse of the day:
But I will call on God, and the Lord will rescue me. Morning, noon, and night I cry out in my distress, and the Lord hears my voice. (Psalms 55: 16-17)
It has been fourteen years since the terrorist attack that struck New York, Washington D.C., and Pennsylvania. Many of us can remember where we were that day and how disorienting the whole day was. Worry, fear, doubt, and unbelief are just a few of the things that we dealt with that day. Even now when you see the images of the buildings burning and the Pentagon broken, it causes those same feelings to begin to rise again.
Many have noted that in that moment of national crisis, many people turned to their church for a solemn place for prayer and reflection. Even if they had wandered away from their faith, there was a strong cord at their core that pulled them back to a place of worship, as if that place was an anchor for their soul. A safe harbor in which to rest, wait, and pray.
What a peace we have in moments of chaos that we have a God that is able to rise above it all. No matter what the time of day or night, we can call out to him with the courage and faith to know that he hears us. Not only does he hear us, but we are confident that he will respond and rescue us from the fear, worry, doubt, and unbelief that we are wrestling with. He hears us.
