One Year Bible Reading Guide:

Ezekiel 21:1-22:31
Hebrews 10:1-17
Psalm 108:1-13
Proverbs 27:12

Verse of the day:

For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy. (Hebrews 10:14)

A house is never really a finished product.  Buyers often begin mentally listing improvements they would like to make on the first tour they take with a realtor.  Even with new construction, there are plans to eventually add a porch or turn the basement into a rec room.  There is always another piece of furniture to buy or empty wall space that could use a decoration.  As homes age, cracks need mending and appliances must be replaced.

As Christ followers, we are both complete and a work in progress.  Hebrews 10:14 begins with the description of a finished work.  “For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever” reminds us that by dying on the cross, Christ paid the price for all sins for all people.  It is a debt that we have no chance of paying on our own.  In Him, all sins are forgiven.  We are purified in the eyes of God when we place our faith and trust in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.  The work is done.

However, the verse continues with the description of a process that is ongoing.  “Those who are being made holy” refers to the believer’s progressive transformation over time.  We become more like Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit is at work when we study the Bible, pray and seek God’s direction for our lives.

God is not done with you.  There is more God wants for you and there is more He wants to do through you.
