One Year Bible Reading Guide:

Ezekiel 16:42-17:24
Hebrews 8:1-13
Psalm 106:13-31
Proverbs 27:7-9

Verse of the day:

Yet how quickly they forgot what he had done!  They wouldn’t wait for his counsel! (Psalms 106:13)

That phrase, “They wouldn’t wait for his (God’s) counsel”, caught my attention.  Our little girl does that sometimes.  She will not listen to or wait for our instruction and do things her way.  Then when things don’t work out, she realizes maybe she should get counsel from mom and dad.  Maybe mom and dad do know what they’re talking about.  Always remember to seek counsel from your heavenly Father.  His ways are best.

Don’t forget what He (God) has done. Sometimes our daughter will come home from school singing a “new song” (to her) and we’ll start singing along and very surprised she’ll say “do you know this song?”  We’ll tell her, mom and dad have been around for a little while.  We know some things and have done some things. Our heavenly Father knows everything and has done amazing things.   It’s foolish not to wait for or listen to His counsel.  The Israelites did it time and time again however and look at all the trouble they got themselves into. We read of these in the rest of Psalms 106.

So seek God’s wisdom.   Often I pray for God to give me wisdom and strength, because I know I lack them sometimes, but I also know my heavenly Father has them in abundance.  Scripture tells us we need only to ask for wisdom and He will give it.  There is also a whole book full of the wisdom of God.  Make sure you’re reading it.

Do you have a big decision coming up or a problem that needs an answer.  Make sure you go to your heavenly Father for His counsel first.  He knows some things (everything) and has been around awhile (forever).  Don’t get ahead of God.  Wait for His counsel.
