Jeremiah 19:1-21:14
1 Thessalonians 5:4-28
Psalm 82:1-8
Proverbs 25:9-10

Verse of the day:

A person who promises a gift but doesn’t give it is like clouds and wind that bring no rain. (Proverbs 25:14)

I don’t know about you, but sometimes in life I feel pressured to deliver. As a parent, I feel the pressure to make sure that I deliver for my kids. I want to come through for them. I want them to have great memories and strong stories to tell their families in years to come. I find that sometimes that pressure make me over promise.

Have you ever gone home? Back to the place where you grew up. Did you notices how small things looked? I went back home to the house and neighborhood that I grew up in. My memory told me how huge the house and yard were, how far we would ride our bikes, and how big the whole neighborhood was. The reality was the house was pretty small and the neighborhood only was about a few square blocks.

Our kids memories can make ordinary days into bigger than life memories. So instead of feeling the need to over sell a vacation or over promise on a great event, how about we just do things with our families. Those simple events, like a trip to the zoo or the park or family game night, could be the beginnings of an epic adventure. Stop thinking about delivering and actually deliver.

Can you imagine what it would be like if God kept telling us about a savior he was going to send? When you read the Old Testament, God was promising to send a savior. Four hundred years before he was born, Jesus’ coming was talked about. I am so glad that God did not over promise and under deliver. Jesus was all that God said he would be. He came to be our Savior and our Lord. I am so glad that God did not just promise, but he delivered.
