Don’t Pull A Dog’s Ears
Posted: Tuesday, October 27
If you do your Bible reading today you’ll learn that it’s not smart to yank at a dog’s ears. You’re probably thinking ‘wow…thanks Solomon…I never thought about it like that!’
But did you realize that it’s equally as dumb to involve yourself in someone else’s argument?
Read the comments on any online news article and you’ll see how wise Solomon really is. The internet gives us all the opportunity to share our opinions with the world and social media encourages us to ‘tell what’s on our mind’. People share their harshly worded views and if we disagree we’ll feel the urge to type back at them.
Here’s a truth you may find freeing: you don’t need to have an opinion where you don’t have authority. In other words, you don’t need to form an opinion on every subject under the sun; you need only have opinions in areas you’ve been given responsibility. It’s ok to tell someone ‘I don’t have an opinion on that’.
Secondly, others are not entitled to my opinion! I actually have lots of opinions on current subjects (just ask Joanie) but I’ve realized that everyone doesn’t need to know what I think on every subject. This will keep you out of much conflict.
