Deuteronomy 13:1-15:23
Luke 8:40-9:6
Psalm 71:1-24
Proverbs 12:5-7

Verse of the Day:

Now when Jesus returned, a crowd welcomed him, for they were all expecting him.

Luke 8:40 (NIV)

During His earthly ministry, crowds moved toward Jesus.  They wanted to hear what He was going to say.  They wanted to see what He was going to do.

There was an expectation that when Jesus showed up, incredible things would happen.

One such crowd’s anticipation is recorded for us in Luke 8:40:

“Now when Jesus returned, a crowd welcomed him, for they were all expecting him” (NIV).

When Jesus arrived and moved through the people, a woman who had been suffering with a blood illness for 12 years reached out and touched his His cloak.  Jesus healed her and she told everyone what happened.

Notice the crowd welcomed Jesus before they knew what He was going to do.

So, why was there so much anticipation?

The crowd was ready because they knew wherever Jesus went, prayers were answered.

We can have the same confidence.  When we pursue Jesus and invite Him into our lives, He will reveal Himself to us in a real and tangible way.

We can confidently anticipate that Jesus is going to move amongst us.

When we pray and worship, let’s pursue God with an expectant and grateful heart for the work He is going to do.
