2 Samuel 23:24-24:25 Acts 3:1-26 Psalm 123:1-4 Proverbs 16:21-23
Verse of the day:
Through faith in the name of Jesus, this man was healed—and you know how crippled he was before. Faith in Jesus’ name has healed him before your very eyes. (Acts 3:16)
The power of faith is astounding. We believe that by simply saying a prayer and believing in our hearts, that God will forgive us our sins and change the course of our lives and eternity. I don’t think we really realize how much faith that seems to take.
But something happens when we transfer that same faith to a simple act of God to heal. We can believe that he will forgive us for a lifetime of transgressions in a moment. However, we struggle to think that he can heal. I wonder if the struggle is not that he can, but if he will.
Can you imagine what the scene would have looked like if, when Peter told the lame man to rise up, the guy would have struggled to stand only to fall down again? Peter knew that God could heal, but more importantly he knew that God would heal. So many times we don’t doubt if he can, but we doubt if he will.
Today, when you pray, stop thinking about what God will and won’t do. You have no control over that anyway. Just pray and believe in what he can do. Then, when he shows up, you will not be surprised, just amazed.
