Follow The Leader

Verse of the day:
See, I am sending an angel before you to protect you on your journey and lead you safely to the place I have prepared for you. (Exodus 23:20)
Have you ever played the children’s game “Follow the Leader?” If you have, you’re aware that the Leader begins moving around with actions that the rest of the players must mimic. Those players who disobey, or don’t keep up are out of the game. The person who obeys or keeps up until the end wins.
Well, God’s version of the game “follow the leader” is called “follow the angel.” In Exodus 23:20, God invited the people of Israel to play “follow the angel.” You see, Israel was facing the frightening prospect of traveling to the Promised Land without knowing the way and without an army to defend them. Because He loved them, God sent them an angel to guide and protect them. He invited the people to follow the angel. The only thing the people of Israel had to do was to pay close attention and obey the angel. If they did, the angel was going to lead them safe and sound to the Promise Land.
Today, you also find yourself in a journey. You are also holding-on to promises and dreams of where you are going. Yet, sometimes the journey is overwhelming and uncertain. Unlike the people of Israel, you’re not called to follow an angel. You're called to follow Jesus. He is your guide. He is your protector. You’ve been invited to follow God’s directions if you want to arrive safe and sound to your destination. Are you willing to play “follow the leader” with God? Are you willing to obey Him in order to arrive to the Promised Land?
