Verse of the day:

“Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning, for I am trusting you. Show me where to walk, for I give myself to you.” (Psalms 143:8)

It is hard to think about Christmas and not think about all of the lights, presents, music and more. The excitement in a child’s face mirrors the excitement that we adults are too “mature” to admit is inside of us. The early morning energy to get the house up and moving so that the gifts can be opened. There is a familiar feeling as we gather together as a family to share the Christmas story, to talk about how faithful God has been throughout the year and to reflect on the incredible gift that Jesus was, and is.

For me, I have always appreciated the Christmas star. What a cool story we get as the wise men, though from another culture than the world Jesus would be born into, were invited to be a part of the grand pageantry and celebration of Jesus birth. God with us. Though the author of today’s verse was not looking specifically for the day that God would join man, he gives us a universal principle of God. God will guide us.

I am not sure how you will start the day tomorrow. For many it will be way earlier than you may have liked. If you don’t have young children, maybe your day will start with stillness and quite. As it does, make sure and pause for a few moments to tell Jesus happy birthday. His unfailing love will be waiting for you. Don’t wait for New Years to start to let him guide you. Give yourself to him and let him guide your life.

Some people wonder if God will talk to them. I am sure that the God that put a star in the sky to lead the wise men to Jesus can find a way to shine a light into your life. It may not be as dramatic as a star in the sky, maybe just a gentle nudge in the morning to start your day. Either way, he will guide you. Trust in Him.

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas Eve celebration, no matter where you may find yourself today. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
