Genesis 16:1-18:15
Matthew 6:1-24
Psalm 7:1-17
Proverbs 2:1-5

Verse of the day:

Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return to you at this time next year, and Sarah will have a son. (Genesis 18:14)

Abraham and Sarah received a wonderful promise from God. They were going to have a large and blessed family. Can you imagine how excited they felt? They must have felt so much anticipation. Yet, the days turned into months, and the months into years and the promised remained unfulfilled.

In Genesis 18, God reminded Abraham and Sarah of the promise. However, Sarah had a hard time believing it. She laughed at how ludicrous it was for two people over 90 years old to expect a baby. From a human perspective, Sarah had good reasons to doubt. She had been waiting for so long and now it just felt impossible.

Have you ever received a promise from God that is so wonderful, so powerful, or so great that you can’t see how it is going to be fulfilled? Have you ever given up on a promise of God been fulfilled? You see, just like Sarah, we’re tempted to doubt the promises of God when they take a long time to be fulfilled or when they feel impossible.

This is why God is reminding you today that He keeps His promises. You see, after many years of waiting, God gave Sarah a son, just like He promised. In the same way, God will fulfill the promise He made you, even if you have good reasons to doubt. He knows when the best time to fulfill your promise is and He is powerful enough to do even that which feels impossible. God will do just what He said.
