One Year Bible Reading Guide:

1 Samuel 5:1-7:17
John 6:1-21
Psalm 106:13-31
Proverbs 14:32-33

Verse of the day:

“Yet how quickly they forgot what he had done! They wouldn’t wait for his counsel!” (Psalm 106: 13)

It’s amazing how quickly our minds forget important pieces of information. Have you ever been in a conversation and you were just introduced to someone and one minute later you were thinking “Oh no…what did they say their name was?” Or have you ever walked from your work space to go get something and as you were walking you’ve thought, “Why am I out here? What was I going to get?” Sadly, I have been guilty of both. It is easy to forget it takes intention to remember.

Remembering is an important discipline in our Christian walk.  God had done so much for the Israelites but they were constantly forgetting what He had done. Their lack of remembering caused them to continually make bad decisions and to walk away from God. We can learn a lot from their example. When we don’t practice remembering all that God has done for us we become unthankful, and we are inclined to walk away as well.

Practice remembering all that God has done for you! Write it down, thank Him repeatedly, tell others. It takes intention but it is well worth the effort.
