One Year Bible Reading Guide:

Leviticus 14:1-57
Mark 6:30-56
Psalm 40:1-10
Proverbs 10:11-12

Verse of the day:

Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and blessed them. Then, breaking the loaves into pieces, he kept giving the bread to the disciples so they could distribute it to the people. He also divided the fish for everyone to share (Mark 6:41)

Can you imagine being the boy that gave Jesus his lunch? Kids are so cute, they don't always think in the limitations we do. I can imagine the disciples frantically searching, “Does anyone have any food we could use to feed everyone?” And here’s this kid, hearing that the people he came to listen to talk need food and he has some!

The disciples bring his food to Jesus, the man this boy has probably heard a lot about. Jesus take the fives loaves of bread and two fish, blesses it, and then it starts to get passed out. This boy was more than likely one of the most amazed people of the entire crowd! His lunch had suddenly multiplied to not only feed 5,000 people but had 2 baskets left over! If I had to guess, I bet this kid never forgot that day. He probably told his kids, his grandkids, and brought it up any time Jesus was mentioned. “I was the boy the gave Jesus my lunch and He fed over 5,000 people with it!”

What are you giving to Jesus to use? You might say, “I don’t have much time, energy, or talent to give!” That didn’t stop this little boy from offering to the miracle maker. When you give something to Jesus He does amazing things with it. When you’re finished reading this devo, pause for minute to pray and listen for direction from Jesus on what He would like you to offer him. Maybe it’s more time serving in church. Maybe it’s giving more to missions. Perhaps it’s using that ability of organization, hospitality, or kindness to bless someone near you. Whatever you have, whether great or small, Jesus can expand it and stretch to reach way beyond what you thought it would. Let Jesus use you!
