1 Samuel 15:1-16:23 John 8:1-20 Psalm 110:1-7 Proverbs 15:8-10
Verse of the day:
I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life. (John 8:12)
There are a few inane principles that guide my life. 1. Anyone who says they love jogging is a liar. 2. Seaweed should never be consumed. 3. A dark church is the scariest place in the world.
The third still surprises me with the amount of time I’ve spent in a church. Of course, churches were far darker in the 80’s—less windows and smaller hallways. If you asked me why I was scared of dark churches, I would have a hard time describing it. I think in some way, I always imagined God saying, “Ha! Now I’ve got you all alone!”
Today, I walk our church campus with my cellphone flashlight. I haven’t run into a pew or a folding chair in years. Can you imagine owning a light and not using it? Can you imagine enduring anxiety and bruised shins unnecessarily? Making Christ the light of our life gives Him unmatched authority in every step we take.
Let Jesus lead the way today. Let Him be light to your decisions and your conversations. We don’t want to stumble in the darkness of our own inabilities. Light lead the way!
