One Year Bible Reading Online:

Ezra 10:1-44
1 Corinthians 6:1-20
Psalm 31:9-18
Proverbs 21:3

Verse of the Day:

“Some of you were once like that. But you were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” (Corinthians 6:11 NLT)

We have all seen the commercials, when we read the tag line, or hear it, we can instantly see his face. One Call, That’s All. I find it amazing the power of marketing. Just the right tag line, catchy phrase or unforgettable tune and they have your memory permanently hooked.

I find it rather sad that our minds get so cluttered with advertisements, jingles and useless information. I wonder if all that clutter keeps us distracted from the truly amazing things that God has done for us.

Just think about it, Paul gives us a list in 1 Corinthians 6 of actions and behaviors that typify people that will not be allowed to enter into eternal life. He follows up that list by reminding us that some of us used to be included in that list. All those behaviors were used to describe our lives. Need a reminder? Here is verse 9 and 10 of 1Corinthians 6:

Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God.

Does that stroll down memory lane ring a bell? Do a few words on that list stand out? If we took the time to really reflect, we might remember how unworthy of God’s love we really are.

And that is what makes his love all the more amazing. One Call. One call was all it took to change your life. When you call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Bible says he is faithful and just to forgive us of all the things on that list. When we call out to him and confess the things we have done, Jesus responses with love, grace, and forgiveness. That’s all. The simplicity of it seems so foolish to many. Yet God choses the foolish things of the world to confound the wise. I am so glad that I was foolish enough to believe the marketing. One Call, That’s All.
