One Year Bible Reading Guide:

2 Samuel 7:1-8:18
John 14:15-31
Psalm 119:33-48
Proverbs 15:33

Verse of the day:

But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. (John 14:26)

Do you have a favorite teacher?  Was it in elementary school, middle school or high school?  Maybe it was in college.  Perhaps it wasn’t at a school at all but at home or at church or even in a work place.  Wherever you had this teacher they made an impact on your life.  Maybe you’re doing what you’re doing today or where you are today or who you are today because of that teacher.  Jesus said in John 14:23 “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching.”  In Psalm 119:33 David says, “Teach me, O Lord, to follow your decrees; then I will keep them to the end.”  Proverbs 15:33 says “The fear of the Lord teaches man wisdom.”

Do you have a desire to learn?  Do you have a desire to learn all you can about knowing, loving and serving God? If so, have I got the Teacher for you.  Actually God does, but I’m telling you about Him.  This teacher is far better than the teacher of the year or even the century and beyond for that matter.  This Teacher is the Holy Spirit of God.  John 14:26 says “But the Advocate (Helper), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.”

The Holy Spirit as Teacher will teach all things.  He will remind us of everything the Lord has said.  (John 14:26) He teaches about sin, righteousness and judgement.  (John 16:7-11)  He will guide us into all truth.  (John 16:13)  He reveals Christ.  (John 16:14)  He will teach us what we ought to say when we need to say it.  (Mark 13:11, Luke 12:12)  He will reveal the things of God (1 Corinthians 2:10, 13) and the future.  (Acts 21:11, John 16:13)  He gives wisdom and revelation.  (Ephesians 1:16-17) Class is in session so be studying your textbook (the Bible) and be listening to the voice of your Teacher (the Holy Spirit).  Learn from the Spirit of God.  For more about the Holy Spirit at work in our lives go to Pastor Jerry Brooks’ Pentecost Sunday message, “Our Helper” at www.oakcreekag.com if you missed it.
