One Year Bible Reading Guide:

Isaiah 22:1-24:23
Galatians 2:17-3:9
Psalm 60:1-12
Proverbs 23:15-16

Verse of the day:

My son, if your heart is wise,
    then my heart will be glad indeed;
my inmost being will rejoice
    when your lips speak what is right. (Proverbs 23:15-16 NIV)

Our 4-year-old daughter started 4K this month.  It’s the first time she’s in school five days a week. She’s there for a half day.

On her first day, we prayed together for her time in school.  She’s been asking me to pray with her every morning since.  We pray for her teachers and classmates.  We pray that she will learn and have fun.

It’s a tough time for Jennifer and me as our little girl is not with one of us for several hours of the day.  During that time, we hope that she’s making wise decisions, being respectful to her teachers and kind to her classmates.

In Proverbs 23:15, the author expresses hope that his son’s “heart is wise” and that his “lips will speak what is right.”

Parents and grandparents can relate.  It brings us great joy when our children do what is wise. We are glad when our children make the right choices about what to say and what not to say. While we can guide and instruct our sons and daughters, we cannot do these things for them.

Pray that your children and grandchildren will make wise decisions and speak what is right - no matter how young or old they are.  If you don’t have children or grandchildren of your own, pray for someone else’s.  Trust that our Heavenly Father will guide and direct their choices and conversations.
