Verse of the day:

Then Jesus told him, “Go back home. Your son will live!” And the man believed what Jesus said and started home. (John 4:50)

A good dad is always willing to do anything to keep his children safe and sound. Would you be willing to risk it all for the sake of your children?

In John 4, we find a roman official who risked it all to find a cure for the terminal illness of his son. Like a madman, he traveled 18 miles in search of Jesus. This man wanted Jesus to go to his house and heal his son. However when he finally found Jesus, things didn’t happen according to his plan.

Jesus simply told him, “Go back home. Your son will live!” Jesus neither prayed for his son nor offered to go to his house! In fact, Jesus’ answer challenged him. You see, If this man continued to beg Jesus, then he didn’t really believe. On the other hand, if he took Jesus at his word and traveled 18 miles empty handed, he risked finding his son dead.

Did this roman official have enough faith to trust in Jesus’ word? Was he able to believe that his son was healed just because Jesus said so? He did believe what Jesus said and went home. Now, that is what I call faith! No assurance; no money back warranty. He chose to trust in Jesus’ word. While he was on his way home, he found out that his son had been healed at the same time that Jesus declared him healed.

Would your faith pass this sort of test? Would you be willing to put it all on the line and believe that Jesus’ word is true? Can you believe that you’ll see miracles if you just take Jesus at His word?

Today, we are reminded that Jesus can be trusted. The words and promises of Jesus are true. Have faith. Choose to trust Him. You’ll see miracles.
