Acts 7:30-50
Psalm 128:1-6
Proverbs 16:31-33

Verse of the day:

“We may throw the dice, but the Lord determines how they fall.” (Proverbs 16:33 NLT)

From time to time I’ll be asked by individuals to pray that their upcoming trips to Vegas. Sometimes they’ll offer to make a donation to the church if they hit it big. I actually do pray for them but so far it hasn’t seemed to have impacted their earnings. Oh well.

Rolling the dice and casting lots have been practiced ever since the days of the Bible. When important decisions had to be made people of faith had confidence that God’s will would be done through the simple casting of lots. But should you roll the dice today? Is that the best way to make decisions?

You and I have a significant advantage that Godly people of the past did not have. We have the word of God. Every time you and I open the scriptures we get to see the heart and the will of God. The Bible contains principles that reach into every area of our lives.

We also have the Holy Spirit living in us. Jesus said in John 16:13…

When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future.

We have the word of God and we have the Holy Spirit living in us. When we align our decisions with scripture and we allow the Holy Spirit to renew our minds and refine our motives we begin to make great decisions. And yet there will still be times when there will be uncertainty in our minds as of which way to go. At those moments refuse to be paralyzed, but have faith in God. Even in uncertainty God directs the roll of the dice.
