Leviticus 19:1-20:21
Mark 8:11-38
Psalm 42:1-11
Proverbs 10:17

Verse of the day:

When the Pharisees heard that Jesus had arrived, they came and started to argue with him. Testing him, they demanded that he show them a miraculous sign from heaven to prove his authority. (Mark 8:11)

“Show me the cookie jar!” was the response of the little girl when her dad informed her that the cookies ran out. She wasn’t ready to believe her own father unless she had proof that there were no more cookies in the cookie jar.

Have you ever asked for proof when it was time to believe? If you have, you are not alone.

The religious leaders of the district of Dalmanutha also asked for proof when they should’ve believed Jesus. They wanted to make sure that Jesus fulfilled their preconceived notions regarding the Messiah. So, they asked Him for a miracle. However, Jesus answered “no miracle for you!”

You see, the heart of the problem was not the lack of proof, but the lack of faith. They didn’t believe in Jesus even though they had more than enough proof. They didn’t ask for a miracle because they needed God. They asked for a miracle because they couldn’t believe that Jesus was who He said He was. So, they didn’t get a miracle.

Who got a miracle then?

The multitudes who recognized Jesus. Those who didn’t need Jesus to pass a test before believing. Those who followed Jesus; those who learned from His teachings; those who recognized their need of Him as a result got their miracle.

Today you have a choice to make. Are you going to ask for proof when it’s your time to believe? Or, are you willing to take Jesus at His word and witness miracles.
