You Are His Wonderful Work
Posted: Sunday, December 20
Verse of the day:
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. (Psalm 139:13-14)
It is amazing what modern medical advancements can tell us about children before they are born. Ultrasounds show us facial features, little hands and tiny toes. Doppler fetal heart monitors magnify cardiac pitter-patter through a device placed on the mother’s belly. Through tests, scans and other advancements we can know gender, size and a great deal more about what’s going on in the womb.
We have the ability to observe and care for a developing baby. Yet, David reminds us that it is God who is behind building the person, “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb” (Psalm 139:13).
How amazing it is when you consider the billions of people who have lived throughout history. Each one of us has a unique design. Unique is a powerful and often misused word. It means one of a kind; unlike anything else. There is only one of you. No one is exactly like you and that is the way God intended it to be.
Jennifer and I have two daughters. Savannah just celebrated her fourth birthday and Dahlia is almost two. I adore them. It warms my heart to see how their personalities, interests and sense of humor are developing. They are a testimony of God’s handiwork. I praise God for them.
Have you given God praise for creating you?
Consider offering a prayer like David’s, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well” (Psalm 139:14).
God carefully made you. You are wonderfully made. There days or even seasons of life when we feel discouraged, overwhelmed, unattractive or unworthy. Remember that you are a work of God. His works are wonderful.
