2 Corinthians 13:1-14
Psalm 57:1-11
Proverbs 23:9-11

Verse of the day:

Examine yourselves to see if your faith is genuine. Test yourselves. Surely you know that Jesus Christ is among you; if not, you have failed the test of genuine faith. (2 Corinthians 13:5)

The other night my girls went upstairs to take a bath. I heard the water running so about 15 minutes later I went to check up on things. I asked Krista if she had taken her bath. Her response was ‘yes’. So I did a brief examination.

Was her hair wet?

No.

Were her pajamas on?

No.

No further examination was needed. She had not taken her bath.

The Apostle Paul tells you and I to test ourselves to examine if our faith is genuine. It’s easy for us to take it for granted that we are followers of Christ yet real faith is not afraid of questioning. To simply ask whether we have faith or are we Christian may not get to the heart of the matter. A life of faith will be evidenced in lots of objective ways. Faith will change how we treat others, how we spent our time, how we use our money, our goals in life and much, much more. Here are a few questions that may be helpful as you and I test our faith…

Do I really believe what I say I believe?

How is my life different from those who don’t know God?

What do my decisions reveal about me?

Would I be willing to suffer for my faith?

Is there enough evidence of Christ’s presence in my life to draw people to my faith?

What does my prayer life reveal about my relationship with God?
